29 October 2012, Sweetcrude, UGHELLI – CHAIRMAN, House of Representatives Committee on Power, Mr. Patrick Ikhariale, has assured Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, workers of job security.

Ikhariale gave the assurance when members of the committee visited Ughelli Power Plc, to assess the level of project executed under the 2012 budget.

He said; “Privatisation or not, those in the power sector are those whose interest will always be protected by the legislature,” adding that “job security should not be an issue unless government has designed the entire process to fail.”

He commended PHCN workers for their doggedness over the years, pointing out that the same challenges faced by NITEL, Nigerian Railway, Nigerian Airways and others that led to their collapse or privatization were faced by the power sector.
