22 February 2017, Lagos — Africa-focused oil and gas company Lekoil aims to ramp up production from the Otakikpo Marginal Field, located in Nigeria’s OML 11, to 10,000 barrels of oil per day by the end of the second quarter.

Continuous production has already commenced from Otakikpo, with initial production rates of 5,000 b/d “in line with company expectations,” according to a Lekoil statement.

“Lekoil is now a producing company,” Lekan Akinyanmi, Lekoil’s CEO, said.

“The Otakikpo project began in a swamp location with no infrastructure and our team delivered production in under two years with, importantly, nearly 915,000 hours without any lost time injuries. I am extremely proud of our people’s achievements,” he added.
