Mantrac power generators13 October 2013, Lagos — Mantrac Nigeria Limited, the sole authorised dealer of Caterpillar products in Nigeria, has introduced its gas-powered generators to the business community in the country.

At a seminar held recently in Lagos, the company exposed over 160 customers to the innovation of powering big industrial generators through gas.

Edmund Martin-Lawson, Managing Director of Mantrac, opened the seminar with the history of Mantrac and Caterpillar in Nigeria and the global footprint of the two organisations.

The seminar which had as its theme ‘Exploring Gas Solutions for Industrial Power Need’ enlightened participants on how energy efficiency can be enhanced, energy costs can be reduced as well as how emissions can be further controlled through CAT gas solutions.

Mohammed AbouWafa, Segment Manager, Gas Large Projects for Mantrac, in his presentation, said Caterpillar and Mantrac had invested in aggressively promoting gas engines to serve as an alternative but cleaner energy source in Nigeria.

He said the gas-powered generators make use of natural gas which was hitherto flared away into the atmosphere creating further environmental complications.
