The exposition, which borrowed significantly from the one in the oil and gas industry, oil technology conference (OTC) which takes place annually at Houston Texas, United States of America (USA) will hold from 6th to 8th July 2015.
The event, which often features exhibition and conference, is hosted by the Nigerian ship owners and the Federal Ministry of Transport in collaboration with other stakeholders in the maritime industry.
Chairman of the 2015 Planning Committee of NIMAREX, Mr.  Ayorinde Adedoyin who spoke on the event  in Lagos said the exposition is an ideal forum to showcase products, services, new technologies, networking and unlocking real business opportunities.
According to Adedoyin, stakeholders in the maritime industry are worried by the increasing foreign domination of shipping business in the country. NIMAREX is one of the Africa’s biggest maritime events in the country, is set to pursue growth and increased local participation in the Nigerian Maritime industry, said the promoters of the event. NIMAREX has key objective, which is to showcase maritime accomplishments and create an awareness of the opportunities available in Nigeria. The conference and exhibition is more than just a corporate event, but a strategic meeting point for all key stakeholders within the Nigeria Maritime sector.
The NIMAREX Planning Committee consists of top management representatives from the Presidency, Federal Ministry of Transport, Nigerian Ports Authority, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Nigerian Inland Waterways Authority, Indigenous Shipowners’ Association of Nigeria, Nigerian Navy, Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding, Association of Nigerian Licensed Clearing Agents and the organised private sector.
