30 July 2015, Lagos – Equities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange fell for the sixth session on Wednesday with the market capitalisation declining by N36bn or 0.34 per cent to close at N10.457tn.
The NSE All-Share Index also fell by 0.34 per cent or 103.86 basis points from 30,614.81 basis points to 30,510.95 basis points.
Apart from the NSE Industrial Index, which rose marginally by 0.08 per cent, and the NSE Alternative Securities Index that closed flat, all other indices fell.
For instance, the NSE 30 Index, which measures the performanc of the 30 most capitalised and liquid stocks on the Exchange dipped by 0.4 per cent to close at 1,380.85 basis points.
Also, the NSE Banking Index was down by 0.65 per cent to close at 325.83 basis points.
A total of 16 equities appreciated in value on Wednesday, while 29 stocks declined in value.
Africa Prudential Registrars Plc was the top gainer, rising by 7.94 per cent or 22 kobo to close at N2.99 per share.
Trans-nationwide Express and Beta Glass Plc followed with a five per cent and 4.99 per cent share price appreciation, which saw them close at N1.05 and N1.97 per share, respectively.
Champions Breweries Plc was fourth on the gainers’ table after it gained 4.89 per cent or 25 kobo to close at N5.36 per share.
Portland Paints and Products Plc led the losers, shedding 9.57 per cent or 44 kobo to close at N4.16 per share.
Investors exchanged 222.690 million shares valued at N4.388bn in 3,601 deals on Wednesday.
