13 November 2012, Sweetcrude, WARRI—MORE facts have emerged on the recent killing of three persons during the clash for supremacy between two groups in Ugborodo community – host to the Otumara Flow Station. The groups are contending over leadership of the Ugborodo Trust Board.
The two groups had since last year been laying claims to the leadership of Ugborodo Community Trust Governing Board, and this has resulted into series of litigations with one group being led by a former Chairman of Warri South-West Local Government Council Area, Mr. David Tonwe, while the other is led by Mr. Thomas Ereyitomi, who is seeking a second term.
Mr. Ereyitomi had led the Board between 2008-2011. What is most intriguing over the recent bloody incident between the alleged supporters of both groups around the Otumara Flow Station is that all the three persons reportedly killed during the clash were not of Itsekiri stock which has created a very strong suspicion that those who died in the clash were mercenaries, who had been paid by certain individuals who are involved in the leadership tussle in Ugborodo.
An unconfirmed report stated that some of those who died actually drowned as they could not swim and were not used to the terrain. The names of those who reportedly died are Gift Ebo Bazuaya, Stephen Enafe (a.k.a. Kurata) and Andrew Aboguwei.
