Port Harcourt — The Nigerian Navy has vowed to smoke out all criminal elements in the Eastern Naval Command, ranging from oil thieves, sea pirates, smugglers, illegal oil bunkering amongst other maritime related criminals.

The newly deployed Flag Officer Commanding, Eastern Naval Command, Rear Adimral Olushola Oluwagbire, made the vow in Port Harcourt, during his maiden inspection tour of the units and establishments under the Command.

Oluwagbire assured that his vision for the Eastern Naval Command is to be the best and most operational Naval Command in the world.

He commended the Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder for their achievements in the fight against oil theft and other criminalities within their area of responsibility and also for the numerous projects at the Naval base in Rumuoluemni, Port Harcourt.

“The only word I have for criminal elements who have remained unrepented is that they should stay out of the Eastern Naval Command’s area of responsibility, because we are going to look for them and smoke them out.

“Our vision is to be the most operational Naval Command, not only in the Nigerian Navy but in the entire world and we will be doing all that we can to ensure that the mandate given to us by the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo is ultimately fulfilled.”

The Flag Officer Commanding, Eastern Naval Command, Rear Adimral Olushola Oluwagbire, who toured round NNS Pathfinder Base, expressed satisfaction with projects at the base.

“I am simply impressed by the efforts which the NNS Pathfinder Commander has put into place, and I wish him well.”
