Port Harcourt — The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, has charged young Nigerians participating in the newly launched Nigerian Content Human Capacity Development, NHCD, Cadetship Training Programme to embrace integrity, discipline, and excellence as they prepare to take up roles in the oil and gas industry.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony in Port Harcourt, the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, represented by the General Manager, Capacity Building Division, Barr. Esueme Dan Kikile, said the initiative was designed to equip cadets with globally competitive skills.

“This programme is about preparing and equipping you to meet global industry standards,” he told the trainees.

“Your conduct, attitude, and performance will speak louder than any certificate. Let your work ethic set you apart, let integrity define you, and let curiosity for learning become your hallmark.”

Ogbe commended Chevron Nigeria Limited for its strong partnership in the capacity-building drive, stressing that such collaborations were critical to bridging the gap between training and employability in the energy sector.

“We deeply appreciate Chevron for standing with us in this journey of building human capacity for the oil and gas industry,” he said.

The Executive Secretary also recognized the role of the Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria, OGTAN, in promoting shared visions and developing standard frameworks to strengthen Nigeria’s human capital base.

He equally lauded STOILIC for designing professional training modules for the cadets, adding that their input would ensure the programme produced industry-ready professionals.

Urging the participants to seize the opportunity, he reminded them that they were ambassadors of the Board and their success would pave the way for future trainees.

“This programme is not just about you; it is about the many young Nigerians who will come after you,” Ogbe stated. “If you excel, you create pathways and opportunities for others.”

The NHCD Cadetship Training Programme is part of NCDMB’s wider mandate to build indigenous capacities and capabilities in the oil and gas industry, in line with the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development, NOGICD, Act.
