Port Harcourt — In a push to enhance local content and ensure quality delivery across its Centres of Excellence, the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, has visited the Centre of Excellence on Local Material Substitution at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, FUTO, for a joint technical assessment and review.

Led by the General Manager, Research and Statistics, Mr. Silas Ajimijaye, the NCDMB delegation met with FUTO’s Deputy Vice Chancellor to reaffirm the institution’s commitment to the full operationalization of the Centre, in line with the Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, between both parties.

“The aim is to ensure that all contractors align with global best practices and deliver top-quality outcomes across all our centres.

“This centre in FUTO is pivotal to our drive for local material substitution in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, and we are here to assess, share knowledge, and collaborate for excellence.”

As part of the visit, the NCDMB team, the Centre Director, and contractors undertook a facility tour of the FUTO centre.

The tour served as a hands-on evaluation of project components and a benchmarking exercise for ongoing construction and rehabilitation works at similar centres nationwide.

The visit underlines NCDMB’s commitment to building functional, world-class research and development hubs that promote indigenous innovation, reduce import dependency, and deepen Nigeria’s capacity for local manufacturing in the energy sector.
