Port Harcourt — The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, and the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, have pledged to deepen inter-agency collaboration to enhance governance, transparency, and service delivery in the Niger Delta region.
This was the key outcome of a familiarization and learning visit by a delegation from the NDDC to the Nigerian Content Tower, NCDMB’s headquarters in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Welcoming the delegation, NCDMB’s Executive Secretary, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, represented by the Director of Corporate Services, Dr. Abdulmalik Halilu, reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to collaboration and knowledge sharing among federal institutions.
“Let us compare notes and adopt what works,” Halilu said, noting that NCDMB’s success story is anchored on strong governance frameworks, process automation, and institutional accountability.
“Our systems are designed not just for compliance, but for sustainability and public trust.”
During the interactive session, NCDMB shared insights on its Health, Safety, Security, and Environment policy, internal control mechanisms, and governance structures that ensure efficiency and accountability.
Presentations also covered the Board’s service-level charter and its role in advancing Nigerian Content objectives across the oil and gas sector.
The NDDC team was also taken on a guided tour of the Nigerian Content Tower, the Technology Incubation and Innovation Centre, and the NCDMB Conference Hall, all symbols of the Board’s commitment to innovation and operational excellence.
According to Dr. Halilu, the engagement aligns with the Federal Government’s broader goal of fostering synergy among institutions to deliver sustainable development outcomes in the Niger Delta. “We are stronger when we collaborate, this is how to build enduring institutions,” he remarked.
The visit, according to NDDC, forms part of its ongoing reform initiative to strengthen internal governance and operational efficiency under the leadership of Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku.
Leading the NDDC delegation, Director of Corporate Governance and Due Process, A. S. Nzelaw, lauded NCDMB for its model institutional culture and performance-driven approach.
“NCDMB stands out as an example of what good governance can achieve in the Nigerian public sector,” Nzelaw stated.
“This visit is part of our broader transformation drive, a shift from a transactionary to a transformative system that prioritizes value creation and impact.”
The session ended with a renewed commitment from both agencies to institutional learning, process improvement, and closer collaboration in advancing Nigeria’s development agenda.
