Port Harcourt — The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, has restated its commitment to driving indigenous innovation and strengthening collaboration between academia, government, and industry as a catalyst for sustainable economic growth.
Speaking at the SciBiz Annual Conference 2025, the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, represented by Dr. Abdulmalik Halilu, Director of Corporate Services, said the Board remains focused on translating research outputs into commercially viable solutions that can transform Nigeria’s economy.
With the theme, “Collaborative Ecosystems for Sustainable Innovation and Economic Growth,” the conference brought together policymakers, innovators, and business leaders to explore the Triple Helix model — a framework that fosters synergy between government, academia, and industry to co-create solutions to national challenges.
“Through the NCDMB Research and Development Framework, we continue to support initiatives that strengthen linkages between research and industry, promote indigenous innovation, and in order drive the commercialisation of homegrown solutions,” Dr. Halilu said.
He emphasized that the Board’s approach to innovation is not merely theoretical but grounded in practical, result-oriented collaboration.
“Our partnership with academia and private sector players is more than symbolic, it represents a practical investment in Nigeria’s future. We are building resilient, inclusive, and innovation-driven systems that will shape the next phase of Nigeria’s industrial development,” he added.
Dr. Halilu noted that NCDMB’s continued investment in research, capacity building, and technology incubation aligns with the federal government’s push for economic diversification and sustainable development.
“By bridging the gap between research institutions and industry players, we ensure that brilliant ideas do not end up on the shelves but find pathways to real-world application,” he stated.
The SciBiz Conference, an initiative that promotes collaboration for science-led economic transformation, featured panel discussions on innovation funding, digital industrialization, and green growth.
