28 January 2015, Benin – As part of its efforts to tackle youth unemployment in the Niger Delta, the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has embarked on an empowerment training for youths in Ondo, Delta and Edo states.
Chairman, GU Planners Resources, Chief Harrison Onwo, the NDDC Consultant handling the exercise, said the training was in line with the seven-point agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan, adding that it was designed to tackle unemployment and effective empowerment of youths for sustainable development in the Niger Delta region.
Disclosing that over 300 youths participated in the workshop, Chief Onwo said: “NDDC is here to fine tune its strategies on youth development in the region. What we are doing here specifically is a NEEDS Assessment/Data base collation. The purpose is that if we must make progress and if we must have new strategies to develop the youths, there is the need to hear from the youths themselves what they actually want.”
