    NDDC commissions power project for Afiesere community

    27 January 2019, Sweetcrude, Warri, Delta State — The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC has completed and delivered 132 KV line and 1 x 30 MVA, 132/33 KV substation at Afiesere community, Ughelli local government area.

    At the commissioning ceremony before the dissolution of the board of the commission, Managing Director of the commission, Mr. Nsima Ekere enjoined the people to protect the project from vandalism, adding that the project will link the Ozoro substation which is due to commence soon.

    Ekere who was represented by the Delta State Commissioner on the board of the commission ( before it was dissolved), Dr. Ogaga Ifowodo said materials for the take-off of the Ozoro substation were ready, pleading that communities in the region should always promote a peaceful atmosphere to record development.

    He commended the people of Afiesere community for allowing construction of the project peacefully, adding that other communities should do same.

    “Own the power project, do not allow it to be vandalized,” he said.

    A brief on the project released by the commission showed that the project was awarded on March 31, 2011.

    President General Afiesere community in his address, thanked the commission for completion of the project, adding that a 2.5 MVA transformer be given to the area “to support the existing one as these communities develop and expand on a daily basis”.
