Port Harcourt — The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, has intensified its anti-corruption drive with a sensitisation programme themed “Integrity in Action – Building a Culture of Accountability and Transparency in the Workplace.”
The exercise, which was organised by the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit, ACTU, in collaboration with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, engaged staff across NERC’s seven divisions through desk-to-desk interactions.
Head of Compliance in the Legal, Licensing and Compliance Division, Hauwa Yakubu, said the sensitisation was designed to deepen integrity consciousness within the Commission.
According to him, the initiative is expected to strengthen workplace ethics, encourage whistleblowing, and entrench best practices across the Commission.
“This campaign is about building a transparent and accountable culture that reflects in our daily operations. Integrity must not just be a value; it should be an action,” she stated.
Commissioner for Corporate Services, Mr. Nathan Shatti, who represented NERC’s leadership, assured ACTU and ICPC officials of management’s backing.
“You have the Commission’s full support in promoting transparency and accountability. This is in line with our commitment to ensure that staff conduct is above reproach,” Shatti said.
During the exercise, ACTU members distributed awareness materials, shared insights on anti-corruption measures, and administered an anonymous questionnaire to gather staff perspectives on promoting transparency.
