08 June 2016, Sweetcrude, Lagos — The Niger Delta Avengers, NDA, has blown up another oil Well belonging to Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL, in the troubled Creeks of oil-rich Niger Delta Region.
In its Twitter handle early Wednesday, the group said it had successfully blown up RMP 20 Well belonging to Chevron Nigeria Ltd, CNL.
The Well, according to the tweet is just 20 meters away from Dibi Flow Station in Warri North Local Government Area of the state.
“At 1:00am today, the @NDAvengers blow up Well RMP 20 belonging to Chevron located 20 meters away from Dibi flow Station in Warri North LGA,” the tweet read.
The group has, however, debunked claims that it has sheathed its sword to negotiate with the Federal Government.
“This is to the General public; we’re not negotiating with any Committee. If Federal Government is discussing with any group, they are doing that on their own,” the group warned.
It will be recalled that to create a conducive environment for the negotiation to take off, the Federal Government, on Monday, relaxed the military siege on communities in the region.
The last economic sabotage embarked upon by the group was last week Friday’s destruction of Shell’s 48-inch Forcados export terminal pipeline located at Ogulagha and Odimodi communities in Burutu Local Government Area of the state.
Attacks by the militants on oil and gas pipelines have brought Nigeria’s oil output to 20-year lows and helped to push oil prices to 2016 high on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, former Chairman of Benikrukru Community in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Jeffery Ojogun has condemned the renewed hostilities in the Niger Delta Region.
Chief Ojogun who is the Amadiwei of Benikrukru Community in a statement described attacks on oil facilities in the region as unfortunate.
Chief Ojogun advised militants causing unrest in the Niger Delta region to take advantage of the two weeks ceasefire ordered by the President and take their grievances to the negotiating table.
He said; “I am pained by the recent happening in the Niger Delta region. The people of the region are responsible and peace-loving and this is why I am appealing that those breaching the peace in the region should allow peace to reign.”
Chief Ojogun added that; “I am worried about the lives and property being wasted and the destruction of our communities as a result of the Niger Delta crisis that is doing nobody any good. Peace is the answer”.
According to him also; “I am a promoter of peace. We in Niger Delta Region are one people; we are one big family. We must not allow our enemies to divide us. We must remain united. Let us not betray one another. This is another trying moment for the people of the region and when we are united, we must surely overcome the current challenges.”
