UGHELLI-A group known as the Niger Delta Indigenous Movement for Radical Change, yesterday condemned the worsening security situation in the country, while warning members of the Boko Haram sect against destabilizing the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.
Vowing to return fire for fire, the group in a statement signed by its President, Nelly Emma, Secretary, John Sailor and Public Relations Officer, Mukoro Stanley, made available to newsmen, accused a prominent royal father in the north of sponsoring members of the Boko Haram in order to create crisis in the country.
Maintaining that any plot against President Jonathan by the North would be resisted, the group told President Goodluck Jonathan to order security agencies to raid the palace of the prominent traditional ruler in the north believed to be sponsoring the Boko Haram sect.
According to the group, the Boko Haram attacks were calculated attempt to discredit the administration of President Jonathan, warning that; “but let it be known to members of the Boko Haram and their sponsor that we will resist any attempt to destabilize the current administration of President Jonathan.
“Jonathan is a worthy son of the Niger Delta and we will spill our last blood to defend his administration. For a very long time, we have watched with total dismay the activities of members of Boko Haram in some parts of the country and we hereby warn that enough is enough.
“Boko Haram must give peace a chance, stop disturbing one of our own, President Jonathan as we are not going to take it easy with anybody or group of persons trying to make the country ungovernable for the President.”
Pointing out that the move to withdraw soldiers from Borno State was premature, the group said; “This is one request that President Jonathan must turn down because the call is self-serving; some prominent leaders in the North including a traditional ruler are backing Boko Haram to cause havoc in the country.
“Let this traditional ruler that is very known to all of us call members of the Boko Haram that he is using to disturb the administration of President Jonathan to order; but we know that he will not do that as he never expected a man from the oil-rich Niger Delta region to rule this country and that is why he has been imposing ministers and governors that cannot deliver on Nigerians and we are using this medium to advise the President to be wary of this prominent traditional ruler.”
“We are also imploring President Jonathan to use the JTF, SSS, and the Police to search the palace of this royal father and they will uncover shocking discoveries. Nobody is above the law in this country. Members of the Boko-Haram and their sponsors should not dare us from the Niger Delta region; they are warned not to step on the lion’s tail. We are now ready to return fire for fire for the sake of President Jonathan and our beloved country.”
