16 November 2011, Sweetcrude, Lagos – NIGERDOCK, Nigeria’s premier offshore fabrication facility for the oil and gas industry, has fabricated and completed the load-out of 7,500 tons of structural components for Total’s USAN FPSO.

In a statement released yesterday, the management said the achievement is a testimony to the company’s fabrication capabilities and its commitment to safety and quality to the oil and gas sector. Nigerdock completed the project on time with a 1.8 million man-hours LTI free record, the best amongst all USAN project packages.

The FPSO construction was awarded to Hyunday Heavy Industries in 2008. The vessel is approximately 320 meters long and 60 meters wide, and weighs about 114,000 metric tons. The Total Usan field lies in block OML 222, around 100km offshore Nigeria in water depths of up to 850 meters.

The field is operated by Total Nigeria (20%) on behalf of equity partners Chevron Petroleum Nigeria (30%), Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria (30%) and Nexen Petroleum Nigeria (20%). The field is expected to start producing in 2012 to a production of 180,000bpd of oil.
