13 July 2018, Sweetcrude, Lagos — The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, has weighed in to protect unsuspecting members of the public from being defrauded, saying it is not recruiting at this time.

The clarification came following reports that some individuals have been defrauding unsuspicious individuals in the name of providing them with employment in the commission.

In a statement to SweetcrudeReports, NERC said the purported recruitment exercise is “fake”.

“NERC IS NOT RECRUITING NOW!,” the statement read.
Continuing, the commission stated that “It has come to the attention of the Commission that some unscrupulous individuals are collecting money from unsuspecting members of the public with the fake assurance of securing them employment with the Commission”.

It added that it would not demand money from members of the public as a yardstick for employment.

“The Commission as an equal opportunities institution does not engage in clandestine recruitment exercise. Members of the public are therefore put on notice that the Commission does not and will not collect money in exchange for job placement”.

“It is also emphasised here for the avoidance of the doubt that the Commission is not recruiting at this time”, the statement read.
