10 November 2017, Sweetcrude, Lagos — The Petroleum & Natural Gas Senior Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, has urged the Federal Government to prioritise a Turn Around Maintenance, TAM, on Nigeria’s three refineries.

The call was made in a communique issued at the end of its National Executive Council, NEC meeting recently.

According to NEC, the appalling state of the nation’s refineries and the effort of government to rehabilitate them for optimal delivery, should be a matter of urgency.

“The NEC-in-Sessions implores the Federal Government to as a matter of urgency and priority, carry out a comprehensive Turn Around Maintenance (TAM) in all the three (3) NNPC refineries”.

Aside carrying out a TAM, the group also called the FG, to come out with distinct plans and implementation strategy for crude supply to refineries as a

The statement also noted the positive impact of the planned modular and other private refineries on the industry and the economy as a whole.

In line with the above, “the NEC-in-Session therefore emphasizes the need to be proactive in labour-related issues that will arise therefrom”.

To ease supply of crude oil to the refineries as well as evacuate and distribute refined products throughout the country, NEC demanded that facilities such as depots, jetties, tank farms, pipelines and pump stations be also rehabilitated along the refineries.
