25 March 2016, Jos — Operation Safe Heaven, OPSH, the security task-force charged with enforcing peace in Plateau and parts of Bauchi State, has placed a ban on the roadside sale of petroleum products in Jos and Bukuru metropolis.
The task force issued a 24-hour deadline to roadside petrol vendors and illegal marketers to dispose petroleum products in their possession or return them to the petrol stations for custody.
Roadsides around Jos and Bukuru have frequently been busy with illegal petrol sale each time there has been fuel scarcity in recent times.
The OPSH specifically warned illegal marketers operating around the vicinity of the NNPC mega station around Dogon Karfe as well as those stationed under the overhead bridge to desist from their acts. All other parts of the metropolis where such activities take place were equally served eviction notices.
A statement issued by the OPSH Media and Information Officer, Captain Ikedichi Iweha, stated that the ban followed a resolution at the end of heads of security agencies’ meeting held at OPSH headquarters in Jos.
