Yenegoa — The Federal Government on Thurdsay, assured that Nigerian Content has come to stay for the good of the country and for the development of Nigerians.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, announced this at the official commissioning of NCDMB Tower and 10MW Gas Fired Power Plant in Yenegoa, Bayelsa State.

Sylva also disclosed that the country was committed to 70percent local content development in the next 30years .

The Minister particularly commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his commitment to continuity and infrastructural development, and the Federal Executive Council for their support and timely approvals for the development and completion of the NCDMB Tower.

He also commended the host community, the indigenous construction firm which handled the construction Tower, past Executive Secretaries of NCDMB as well as the incumbent ES, Simbi Wabote, for their commitment to the completion of the project.

“The commissioning of the NCDMB Tower shows sky scrappers and major infrastructures can be built in the Niger Delta and Bayelsa State.

“It also shows that Nigerians have the capacity, if given the opportunity. It shows that Nigerian Content has come to stay for the good of our country and for the development of Nigerian people.”

The Minister also said that the commissioning of the NCDMB Tower was an emotional moment for him, as he was the one who allocated the parcel of land for the siting of the project, while serving as the governor of Baylesa State.

“For me, this is a very emotional moment because I have been a part of this project since inception. But at a point, it was as if I was no longer part of this project. But today, by the grace of God and that of the President, I am a part of the completion of this project

“Mr. President believes in continuity. He has never played politics with development. The foundation of this project was laid in 2015 long before the advent of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, but the President in his commitment and support to this project and infrastructural development in the country has ensured that this project continued and it is completed.”
