28 July 2016, Lagos – From the National President of Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers (NALPGAM), Mr. Basil Ogbuanu, came a passionate appeal to the Federal Government on Thursday to increase the local gas supply for Nigerians so as to halt its occasional scarcity and high rate being paid by the consumers to refill their cooking gas cylinders.

Ogbanu who observed that Nigeria is yet to harness one-tenth of the potential in the gas deposit available in the country, said the time has come for the government to utilize it to grow economy in all fronts.

Presently, he disclosed that the allocated quota of 250,000 metric tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) annually to the Nigerian market is no longer enough to meet local consumption.

Ogbaudu made this disclosure at the annual general meeting of the association held in Ibadan yesterday, which featured presentation of NALPGAM excellence and visionary leaders’ awards to three former national presidents of the association: Chief Adewumi Olufemi, Alhaji Auwalu Ilu, and Mr. Olufemi Onabule.

Also, the LPG Director, NIPCO Plc, Mr. N. Bakhtiar, and Managing Director of Navgas Limited, Mr. Ian Brown, were also awarded with NALPGAM-LPG Market Development and Growth Personality of the Year 2016 as well as NALPGAM-LPG Safety and compliance Personality of the Year 2016 respectively.
