*Average kerosene price per litre grows by 2.9%

16 October 2018, Sweetcrude, Lagos — Nigerians paid 1.9 percent more for premium motor spirit, PMS – popularly known as petrol – in September as against August, statistics from the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, have shown.
Average price paid by consumers for petrol increased by 1.9 percent year-on-year and 0.3 percent month-on-month to N147.30 in September 2018, from N146.90 in August, NBS said.
States with the highest average prices of petrol in the month under review were Enugu (N153.88), Taraba (N152.86) and Delta (N150.92) while states with the lowest average prices were Kano (N144.87), Katsina (N143.63) and Bauchi (N144.00).
Average price per litre paid by consumers for National Household Kerosene increased by 2.95 percent month-on-month and 12.40 percent year-on-year to N297.28 in September 2018, from N288.75 in August 2018.
While states with the highest average prices per litre of kerosene were Abuja (N350.00), Niger (N337.88), and Enugu (N344.67), those with the lowest average prices were Borno (N250.00), Abia and Kogi (N241.67) and Kwara (N235.28).
Similarly, average price per gallon paid by consumers for kerosene increased by 3.95 percent month-on-month and by 15.75 percent year-on-year to N1127.05 in September 2018, from N1084.24 in August 2018.
States with the highest average prices per gallon of kerosene were Ebonyi (N1260.00), Jigawa (N1258.33) and Ekiti (N1253.33).
States with the lowest average prices per gallon of kerosene were Benue (N1016.64), Bayelsa (N994.90) and Akwa Ibom (N956.01).
