Port Harcourt — Nigeria’s oil industry made significant strides in 2024, setting the stage for improved production, efficiency, and economic growth in 2025, according to the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil) Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri.

In a New Year message, Lokpobiri highlighted key achievements in the upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors, crediting the success to the diligent implementation of targeted measures.

He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support in driving these initiatives, which he said are vital to the nation’s economic recovery.

“The past year has been a transformative period for our oil sector, marked by significant strides towards delivering prosperity to Nigerians. Your trust and support have been invaluable as we navigated this crucial landscape to ramp up production through our upstream sector while driving efficiency and growth in our midstream and downstream operations.”

Lokpobiri highlighted the diligent implementation of targeted measures as instrumental in achieving these milestones, which he believes will pave the way for even greater successes in 2025.

Expressing his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he said: “I express profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the privilege to serve and for his support in achieving our ministerial deliverables.”

Looking ahead, the minister projected a brighter future for the oil industry, which he described as “a cornerstone for Nigeria’s economic recovery and growth.”

“As we step into the year 2025, our projections indicate a more profitable and sustainable oil industry, one that continues to serve as a cornerstone for Nigeria’s economic recovery and growth.”

The Minister also called for continued collaboration with Nigerians and stakeholders to sustain the progress made.

“To achieve this, I humbly seek the continued partnership of Nigerians and all relevant stakeholders in this 2025 and beyond,” he said.

The minister concluded his message by wishing Nigerians and the global community a Happy New Year, reiterating his commitment to delivering prosperity through the oil sector.
