09 March 2016, Sweetcrude, Lagos –  The Nigerian LNG Limited, NLNG, will deliver its first cargo of Liquefied Natural Gas, LNG, to the United Kingdom in 18 months, tomorrow (March 10).

The product shipped from the Bonny Island facility of the NLNG will be delivered by LNG Enugu, built in 2005 by DSME of South Korea, at Dragon import terminal in the UK. Total volume of product involved is 145,926 cubic metres.

Acording to a Reuters report, the converging global gas prices have reduced incentives for shippers to deliver Atlantic-produced supply to Asia.
Nigeria LNG exported around 40 percent of its production to Asia in 2015 with 30 percent of the production ending up in Europe.
However, no cargoes have been delivered to the United Kingdom.
The Bonny Island facility, operated by Nigeria LNG has six trains in operation, producing a total of 22 mtpa of LNG.
Meanwhile, One of Nigeria LNG’s six production trains at the Bonny Island plant is currently undergoing maintenance.
NLNG’s spokesman, Tony Okonedo told reporters recently that maintenance began on January 25 and will be carried out over a period of 70 days ending in the first week of April, noting that there are no production challenges.
At full production, the Bonny Island facility’s six trains produce some 22 mtpa of liquefied natural gas, from about 3.5 bcf/d feed gas intake. It has supply deals in place with the likes of Repsol of Spain and BG Group. Additionally, the facility sells LNG cargoes on the spot market.
Nigeria LNG is a joint venture by Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC (49 percent), Shell (25.6 percent), Total (15 percent), and Eni (10.4 percent).
