Port Harcourt — Nigeria LNG Limited, NLNG, has been recognised as the Best Corporate Training Partner 2025 by the Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria, OGTAN, underscoring the company’s long-term commitment to human capital development, skills transfer, and workforce empowerment in the country’s oil and gas industry.
The award was presented at the 4th edition of the OGTAN Human Capital Development Awards in Lagos, where the Association praised NLNG for consistent investments in workforce training, strategic partnerships with accredited providers, sponsorship of industry programmes, and education-focused Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.
OGTAN noted that NLNG’s interventions have produced measurable results, distinguishing the company as a “true partner in capacity building.”
Receiving the award on behalf of NLNG, Emmanuel Uleh, Head, Nigerian Content Compliance Assurance & Monitor, said the recognition affirms the company’s long-standing strategy to embed human capital development into both its Nigerian Content obligations and CSR commitments.
“At inception, NLNG deliberately promoted local capacity development by training Nigerian technicians and operators for the operation and maintenance of its plant on Bonny Island. Today, this strategy has yielded remarkable results: NLNG boasts a 100% Nigerian management team and a workforce that is over 95% Nigerian,” Uleh said.
He stressed that NLNG’s vision of national workforce empowerment has been advanced through targeted programmes at home and abroad.
“More than 600 Nigerians have received training in Nigeria and South Korea in highly technical areas such as naval architecture, shipbuilding, welding, and fabrication under the Bonny Gas Transport Plus Project. In collaboration with NCDMB and OGTAN, the company has trained over 150 people through its asset projects,” he explained.
Under its flagship Train 7 Project Human Capital Development initiative, Uleh disclosed that more than 400 Nigerians are currently undergoing training.
“This includes over 140 embedded in plant maintenance activities and over 200 community youths preparing for future operations,” he added.
Beyond technical training, NLNG continues to channel significant resources into education, recognising its role in national development.
“Our CSR programmes prioritise education by awarding scholarships to deserving students at post-primary and undergraduate levels in Nigeria, while also supporting postgraduate studies abroad in highly technical fields critical to national advancement,” Uleh stated.
He emphasised that the company’s impact is closely aligned with Nigeria’s development priorities and sustainability agenda. “Our contributions reflect our vision of being a globally competitive energy company, inspiring a sustainable future,” he said.
The OGTAN award further cements NLNG’s position as a leader in human capital development, highlighting its role in equipping Nigerians with skills that support the long-term growth and competitiveness of the nation’s oil and gas sector.
