A statement issued by the acting Group General Manager, Public Affairs, Ms Tumini Green in Abuja, said it was a minor incident of which repair works had since commenced.
The statement said the fire, which affected Tank 102 at the Depot, was quickly contained before causing any major damage.
“There was adequate water supply and storage at the Minna Depot with four functional Industrial Boreholes .
“`The Fire Water Pumps, Hydrant, Tank Sprinkler system, and the Foam Pourer were all in perfect condition at the time of the fire incident.
“These facilities aided to extinguish the fire without much damage”, it said.
The statement explained that Tank 102 had over 8.5 million litres of PMS at the time of the incident, adding that the availability of fire fighting equipment and personnel saved the situation.
The NNPC, therefore, advised the general public not to engage in panic buying and hoarding of petroleum products as the incident “would not in any way affect PMS distribution to the region either now or in the near future”, according to News Agency of Nigeria
