Port Harcourt — Ahead of the groundbreaking ceremony for five mini-LNG plants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State tomorrow, the NNPC Gas Marketing Limited, NGML, and BUA Group have signed a shareholders’ agreement for the development of a 45 million standard cubic feet per day, aimed at enhancing domestic gas utilization for businesses and industries.
The agreement was formalized at NGML’s headquarters in Abuja, with BUA Group’s Group Executive Director, Kabiru Rabiu, and Group Chief Legal Officer, Oluseye Alayande, in attendance alongside NGML’s Managing Director, Justin Ezeala, and his management team.
The project is expected to stimulate economic growth, support the gas-to-power initiative, and play a key role in Nigeria’s energy transition. It aligns with the government’s Decade of Gas initiative, which seeks to maximize the country’s abundant gas resources for industrial and commercial use.
By expanding LNG availability, the partnership aims to provide cleaner, more affordable energy alternatives, reduce reliance on diesel and other high-carbon fuels, and contribute to a more sustainable energy future for Nigeria.
As part of this initiative, a groundbreaking ceremony for five Mini-LNG plants—PRIME LNG, NGML/Gasnexus LNG, BUA LNG, Highland LNG, and LNG Arete, will take place tomorrow Thursday, 30th January 2025 in Ajaokuta, Kogi State.
The mini-LNG projects aim to expand access to liquefied natural gas for businesses and industries, which aligns with the theme “From Gas to Prosperity: Catalysing Nigeria’s Economic Growth”, reflecting a broader vision to leverage Nigeria’s abundant gas resources for industrialization and economic transformation.
