Lagos — The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho has solicited the renewed support and technical synergy of the global shipping community as Nigeria finalizes moves to implement the National Single Window (NSW) project.
Speaking as a participant at the ongoing International Association of Ports and Harbours, IAPH taking place Hamburg -Germany, Dantsoho said the renewed vigour with which Nigeria is accelerating the implementation of National Single Window project which will in fundamental terms deepen port efficiencies by eliminating human interface that hitherto undermine In-Country trade facilitation efforts, requires intensified international technical support to meet and indeed exceed global expectations.
The tremendous policy support provided by Nigeria’s Honorable Minister for Marine & Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola propelled the NPA ‘s finalization of the crucial phase of the Port Community System (PCS) which is the precursor to the NSW.
Responding to the call by the President of the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) Mr. Jens Meier’s call for Ports to actively collaborate on knowledge sharing with the maritime community to accelerate decarbonization, Dantsoho said “the NPA is fully aligned and we were deliberate at ensuring that our ongoing Port Modernization programme which is guided by the imperatives of eco-friendliness”.
The 2024 IAPH World Ports Conference which is themed “Managing Risk, Building Resilience and Unlocking Opportunities at Ports” commenced on 8th October in Hamburg, Germany, brought together leaders in the global port community to share ideas necessary to face the realities of an epoch of unprecedented upheaval and opportunity.
