07 September 2016, Sweetcrude, Lagos – Newly-appointed Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, Hadiza Bala Usman, visited West Africa’s leading indigenous oil and gas services company, Nigerdock, Wednesday at the Snake Island Integrated Free Zone, FIIZ, in Lagos.

Received on arrival by Mr. Anwar Jarmakani, the Group Executive Chairman of Jagal – the parent company of Nigerdock and operators of FIIZ – Ms. Usman later inspected facilities at Nigerdock.

She was accompanied by members of the board and management of NPA.

The NPA managing director, who said she was impressed with the facilities and quality of work carried out at Nigerdock, praised the management and staff of the company for their efforts.

She pledged NPA’s support to the company to ensure its continued progress and to sustain its positive contribution to the growth of Nigeria and the economy.

Nigerdock is West Africa’s leading indigenous company with expertise in oil and gas construction, shipyard and marine services, logistics support and industrial training.

Welcoming Ms. Usman to Nigerdock, Mr. Jarmakani said Nigerdock was handed over to Jagal by ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo government and that since then, Jagal has invested over $500 million in improving facilities in the company.

He said the company’s divisions include upstream services (offshore fabrications), marine services (ship building and repair), supply base services (deepwater logistics) and training services.

Jarmakani noted Nigerdock’s contributions to Nigerian human capacity development, saying it has trained over 6,000 Nigerians across diverse disciplines and has developed world class systems and processes driven by competent and professional Nigerian workforce.

According to him, the company has also handled various highly technical projects for companies in the oil and gas sector, including Shell, Mobil, Chevron and Total.

“Our work methods and systems are world class which have been attested to by major oil and gas companies and other customers”, he said.

Describing Nigerdock as a national treasure, a local content flag bearer, and a landmark company to the country, he said it should be encouraged to ensure its investments in capital and human resources is fully utilised.

“We have proven time and time again that we can deliver and deserve further support.

“We have trained people, developed Nigerians and improved the nation’s economy. We need more jobs,” Jarmakani stressed.
