Lagos — The Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC, Engr. Gbenga Komolafe, has paid a courtesy visit, together with the executive commissioners of the agency, to the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu.
The executive commissioners are Dr. Kelechi Ofeogbu, Engr. Amadasun Eronense, Mr. Jide Fasina; and Mr. Bashari Indabawa,
Komolafe said the purpose of the visit was to familiarise his team with the activities of the ICPC and to congratulate the chairman on his appointment.
He reeled out some of the achievements of NUPRC within 2 years and a few months after the signing into law of the Petroleum Industry Act, PIA.
He stated that as result of his agency’s regulatory roles in the upstream petroleum sector, there has been a significant increase in the nation’s oil and gas production volumes, transparency in hydrocarbon accounting, an appreciable level of growth in Capex, predictability, and certainty within the oil and gas industry space thereby boosting the confidence of investors.
He stressed on the need to collaborate with ICPC in curbing leakages and prevention of corruption in the industry, in line with President Tinubu’s administration mandate of improvement in the revenue generation to the Federation.
Responding, the Chairman of ICPC expressed his delight for the courtesy visit and congratulated Komolafe on the many achievements within the short period. He maintained the ICPC’s willingness to collaborate with NUPRC in tackling the challenges of leakages and prevention of corruption in the industry. He thanked the NUPRC team for the visit.
