Port Harcourt — Engr. Wole Ogunsanya of Geoplex Drillteq Limited is the new Chairman of the Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria, PETAN, the indigenous oil and gas service providers professional organization in Nigeria.
According to PETAN’s new Publicity Secretary Engr Innocent Akuvu, Ogunsanya will lead the association for the next two years till March 2026, as he succeeds Mr Nik Odinuwe, who had steered the affairs of association.
He was elected alongside other new Board executives including Vice Chairman, Engr. Obi Uzu; Secretary, Engr. Eloka Ejeh; Assistant Secretary, Dr. Okey Ukaegbu; Financial Secretary, Mr. Akin Osuntoki; Treasurer, Mr. Okezie Akwiwu; Conference Chairman, Mr. Chubby Ibe; Publicity Secretary, Engr. Innocent Akuvue; Ex Officio Member, Dr. Ibilola Amao and Ex Officio Member, Mr. Chinedu Maduakoh.
Engr. Ogunsanya has over 30 years of experience in the oil industry, having worked for Schlumberger as a field engineer and also in various management positions including Country Operations Manager.
He attended University of Lagos, graduating in mechanical engineering, with honours in 1987 and joined Schlumberger immediately where he was trained in Livingstone-Scotland as a testing and production engineer, and also trained as a formation evaluation and production engineer in Italy primarily for Agip, where he successfully executed extensive projects.
PETAN, an association of Nigerian indigenous technical oilfield service companies in the petroleum industry, is reputed as the initiator of local content and has been championing the quest for increased local participation in the Nigerian oil and Gas industry, which culminated in the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Act, 2010.
