Oil theft: NSCDC denies auctioning seized petrol tankersMkpoikana Udoma

Port Harcourt — The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has denied placing advertisement for the auctioning of petrol tankers and other vehicles seized from suspected oil thieves and illegal bunkerers.

Public Relations Officer of NSCDC, Rivers State Command, Oguntuase Michael, warned that the advertisements are fraudulent and untrue, thus should be disregarded by members of the public.

Michael explained that forfeited trucks are usually auctioned by the Federal Government’s Auctioneers, after due adverts and not by the Corps.

“It has come to the notice of the Rivers State Command of NSCDC that some persons/group of persons have posted an advert on the social media, calling on prospective buyers of trucks which were arrested on grounds of illegal dealings in oil business in Rivers state to contact them.

“The State Commandant, Muktar Lawal, hereby warn the general public to disregard the said advert. It is fraudulent, untrue and should not be trusted.

“If at any point, arrested and forfeited trucks are to be auctioned, it is done by the Federal Government Auctioneers after due adverts,” NSCDC said.
