    Ojulari hosts NLNG, Chevron as strategic gas, energy talks deepen

    Port Harcourt — The Group Chief Executive Officer, GCEO, of NNPC Limited, Mr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, on Tuesday received separate delegations from Nigeria LNG Limited, NLNG, and Chevron Nigeria Limited, in what signals a renewed push to strengthen gas supply, decarbonization strategies, and energy sector partnerships.
    During the courtesy visits at the NNPC Towers in Abuja, the GCEO underscored the company’s commitment to leveraging partnerships to enhance energy access, economic growth, and long-term sustainability in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
    Receiving the NLNG delegation, Ojulari described the Nigeria LNG as a “strategic business for Nigeria,” while reaffirming NNPC Ltd’s vision of ensuring energy access for all citizens.
    He expressed optimism about ongoing collaborative efforts in gas supply, energy transition, and talent development.
    On his part, NLNG Managing Director, Dr. Philip Mshelbila, congratulated the GCEO on his appointment, expressing confidence in his leadership. “We believe in the capabilities of your team to continue advancing the Nigerian energy sector,” he said.
    Discussions focused on expanding gas supply, achieving decarbonization goals, and building a robust talent exchange pipeline.
    The NLNG delegation included Deputy Managing Director Olakunle Osobu, General Manager External Relations & Sustainable Development Dr. Sophia Horsfall, General Counsel Akachukwu Nwokedi, and other senior advisors.
    In a separate engagement, the NNPC boss also met with the Managing Director of Chevron Nigeria Ltd., Jim Swartz, where both parties reaffirmed their commitment to deepening joint venture operations and exploring new frontiers in Nigeria’s gas development strategy.
    “We are committed to strengthening our long-standing partnership with Chevron. Value-based collaboration is the way forward for delivering shared outcomes in our sector,” Ojulari said during the meeting.
    Swartz shared Chevron’s high-level strategy and areas of alignment with NNPC Ltd., especially in gas-related business and deepwater operations. “This partnership is critical for delivering energy that is reliable, cleaner, and accessible,” he noted.
    Other members of the Chevron delegation included Segun Kuteyi, Director, JV Operations; Michelle Pflueger, Director, Deepwater and PSCs; Rizu Nwokoma, Director, Business Services; Ijeoma Bassey, General Counsel, and Olayiwola Adeniji; Manager, Government Affairs.
