20 September, 2011, Sweetcrude, WARRI- THE Pan Ocean Oil Corporation (Nig.) Limited, Tuesday, awarded contracts worth N34 million for water projects and fight cholera epidermic at Obayantor, Abe, Owe and Ogbekele communites in Edo and Delta states.

The company in conjunction with Starcoms Plc, last week, also empowered 250 youths from nine host communities in Delta.

Handling out the contracts agreements at Pan Ocean Office in Warri, Mr. Olabanji Ajijola, Pan Ocean Community Relations Manager said, “We, at Pan Ocean want to impact positively on our host communities because their well being and development is our priority. Recently, we set out to empower youths by setting up a small phone call business outfit in collaboration with telecom giant, Starcomms PLC.

“The contracts were awarded to you (contractors) because you promised sustainability of the contracts after completion. We want you to execute the contracts to specified standard and time; the initial contract payment is not an opportunity for you to acquire a new wife or property.

“From available statistics, over 1.5 billion people had no access to drinking water; this is the reason why we supported the provision of water in the above communities after a roundtable agreement. The Cholera scourge which ravages communities through bad waters is another strong point in our determination to provide good potable drinking water”, he asserted.

Responding on behalf of the contractors, Chief Felix Omene said “We appreciate Pan Ocean for living above expectation, you have carried out empowerment programmes for youths in the past aside other development projects; we will not fail Pan Ocean, in the next few days we shall mobilize to site and we will deliver the jobs within the specified time because we want more contracts.

“We pray that Pan Ocean should discover more oil wells in our areas so that the good work will continue, we are indeed grateful, Pan Ocean dwarf their competitors in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility”, he said.
