Port Harcourt — The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, has donated an ambulance to Finima Health Centre in Bonny, Rivers State.
The Branch Auditor of PENGASSAN, Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited in Bonny, Comrade Bethel Banigo, with members of the association, also donated 250 desks to students of the Bonny Grammar School, as well as paid a courtesy visit to the Amadabo of Finima, to enable the monarch to witness the donation.
Banigo said PENGASSAN was pleased to support health care delivery in Finima and other communities, saying that this was the motivation behind the donation of the ambulance.
According to him, the ambulance will amplify the operational capabilities of the Finima Health Centre to render qualitative health care services to the people of Finima.
Speaking, the Amadabo of Finima, Aseme Alabo Dagogo Lambert Brown, expressed optimism that Finima Health Centre will make judicious use of the ambulance donated by PENGASSAN, while appealing to the management of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited to upgrade the health centre to a cottage hospital.
Brown, who commended Mobil for its impact on the community, said all necessary regulatory compliance requirements should be addressed to realize the upgrade of the health centre to a cottage hospital for the benefit of Finima community.
“We appreciate the thoughts you have for Finima; we appreciate that you always carry Finima along as hosts of ExxonMobil, please keep the spirit on.”
“What you are doing is in line with the legacy PENGASSAN has set over the years. You should keep the heritage and transmit it from generation to generation.”
Also speaking, the Medical Director of the Finima Health Centre, Dr. Nekabari Dambere, assured the Amadabo of Finima that the ambulance would be judiciously utilized, expressing optimism that the operational challenges of the health centre would be addressed with it.
For his part, the Zonal Director, Rivers State Senior Secondary Schools Board, Bonny Zone, Edward Kiri, who received the 250 desks, assured that the desks would ease the stress of some students who hitherto had no desks to sit during classes, while also appealing for teaching aids and other facilities for teachers.
