– 20% of vacancies reserved for PCDs
– Selection process will have 916 vacancies
– No requirement for prior professional experience
London — Petrobras has launched a new public competition with 916 vacancies for technical level, in addition to the formation of a reserve register. Registrations can be made between 12/28/23 and 01/31/24.
This is the company’s first competition to reserve 20% of places for people with disabilities, well above the minimum percentage required by law, which is 5%. In recent competitions, Petrobras had already been applying vacancy reservation percentages for PCDs above the minimum required by legislation. In addition to vacancies for PCDs, the selection process will also reserve 20% of vacancies for black people, as established by law.
“Reserving 20% of vacancies for people with disabilities is an innovative measure, which shows, in practice, Petrobras’ commitment to inclusion. We believe that a diverse technical team makes us not only a fairer company, but is also a fundamental element in driving innovation, preparing for the low-carbon future and the energy transition, incorporating new world views”, highlights the president of the company, Jean Paul Prates.
Adding the 916 existing opportunities to the reserve register (5,496), which does not have a guarantee of being called up, there are a total of 6,412 possible opportunities.
The vacancies are for professionals with a technical level in the following emphases: Occupational Nursing; Inspection of Equipment and Facilities; Transport Logistics (Control); Maintenance (Boilermaking, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical); Operation; Ballast Operation; Projects, Construction and Assembly (Buildings, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical); Petroleum Chemistry; Workplace safety; Supply of Goods and Services (Administration). The training requirements for each area, the number of vacancies and distribution for each hub and the cities that are part of the hub can be consulted in the selection process notice.
The minimum starting salary is R$5,878.82. Proof of prior professional experience is not required.
In addition to reserving places, Petrobras implemented a series of actions in this competition to facilitate access for people with disabilities. Among these measures, we can highlight the increase in the validity of the report certifying the candidate’s disability to 36 months (previous period was 12 months). Persons with disabilities may also, according to their needs, request reasonable adaptations and/or provision of assistive technologies when taking objective tests and other stages of the selection process. Furthermore, the regional competition gives more predictability about where the future employee will work, which is even more important for people with disabilities.
The organizing institution of the new public selection process will be the Brazilian Center for Research in Evaluation and Selection of Event Promotion (Cebraspe). The process will be valid for 18 months, and may be extended for an equal period once, at Petrobras’ discretion. To prepare for the selection process, the candidate is recommended to read the notice carefully, check the requirements, establish a study plan and solve as many questions as possible from previous tests.
The registration fee is R$62.79. Information about registration, the complete notice, number of vacancies for each area, test cities, requirements and remuneration can be consulted on the Petrobras website.
An example of diversity and overcoming at Petrobras is maintenance technician Vanessa Vieira de Souza (in the photo), who joined the company in November 2023, through the last selection process for a technical level carried out by Petrobras. Vanessa left her previous formal job so she could study for the exam and, in the meantime, sold food on the beach and at markets to maintain some income. Mixed race, lesbian and hearing impaired, Vanessa draws attention to the fact that the company is open to the most different professional profiles. “Many people don’t see themselves working at Petrobras, mainly because it is a huge company, which operates in heavy industry. But this perception does not reflect reality. Petrobras is open to everyone. It is a company that recognizes the importance of diversity in its work environment and seeks to ensure that all employees, regardless of their origin, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age or any other characteristic, can feel respected, valued and included”, he concluded maintenance technique.
Wide benefits package, with specific advantages for women and PWD
Petrobras offers supplementary pensions (optional), health plans (medical, hospital, dental, psychological and pharmacy benefits), as well as educational benefits for dependents, among others. Employees who work in an administrative capacity are still entitled to four days off per year for medical monitoring of dependents. The company also offers variable remuneration, such as, for example, profit sharing (PLR), and collects the Length of Service Guarantee Fund (FGTS). Petrobras also has an attractive career plan, with the possibility for employees to grow in their own technical level emphasis and also to reach leadership positions, such as supervisor, manager and consultant.
People with disabilities registered with the company who work in an administrative capacity can opt for full teleworking (five days a week). Employees with disabilities who depend on a caregiver for activities of daily living are still entitled to caregiver assistance reimbursed by Petrobras.
The company allows the possibility of extending maternity leave beyond the 60 days established by legislation, totaling up to 180 days. Petrobras also provides breastfeeding support rooms in several units and provides a reduction in working hours for breastfeeding women by up to two hours during the child’s first year of life. Non-pregnant mothers are entitled to maternity leave for 120 days. The company also offers paternity leave of up to 30 consecutive days.
The reservation of 20% of vacancies for people with disabilities adds to a series of measures that have been adopted to promote diversity, equity and inclusion within Petrobras, such as the Accessibility Improvement Plan with around 80 implemented actions. In 2023, for example, the company approved its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Policy and also launched the Racial Equity Program. For example, goals were established such as reaching 25% of black people and 25% of women in leadership positions at Petrobras by 2030.
