Lagos — DESPITE outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic, there is still a steady level of shipping activities in Nigeria as petroleum products continue to dominate the import chart of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA.
The daily shipping position issued by the agency, recorded a total of 311,000 metric tons comprising the already berthed as at last week and consignments scheduled to arrive within the next one week.
Bulk wheat took the second position with 68,000 metric tons followed by 26,000metric tons of bulk salt.
Also contained in the shipping position is 3,500 units of used vehicles whose clearance were processed through the Port and Terminal Multi-purpose Limited, PTML.
However, there are about 19 empty berths at the Kiri-kiri Lighter Terminal, KLT, a development that could be connected to the Coronavirus pandemic depressing volume of shipments.
