04 October 2015, Port Harcourt – The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company has explained the reason for the recent power outage experienced by its customers in Rivers, Bayelsa and Cross Rivers states.
The PHED said on Friday that the blackout in Bayelsa, Cross River and some parts of Rivers was as a result of technical challenges facing the Transmission Company of Nigeria.
A statement signed by the company’s Manager, Corporate Communications, Mr. Jonah Ibomah, specifically indicated that 132KV lines from Alaoji in Abia State running through Itu to Calabar and another 132KV lines from Owerri in Imo State to Ahoada and Yenagoa had been faulty for some time.
The statement added that the technical fault had affected other areas like the 33KV feeders in Calabar and some other areas
“As a result of the mentioned faults, some 33kv feeders in Calabar, namely EPZ 1, 2, 3, Akamkpa, Flour Mills 1, 2, 3, Unicem and Amica have been affected. Other affected feeders in Yenagoa include Opolo, Immiringi 1, 2, 3, Amasoma and Tungbo.
“The 33kv feeders in Ahoada, Choba, Isiokpo, Abonema and Ahoada have also been affected by the transmission problems. In Port Harcourt, customers feeding from Onne, Bori, Oyigbo, Timber and the RSTV feeders have also been impacted by the current situation,” the statement read.
