28 January 2016, Akure—Former Commander of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta   (MEND) Chief Bibopiri Ajube has denied being hunted by security operatives for the bombing of pipelines in Delta State.

Speaking with newsmen in his Bolowoh Community in Ese- Odo area of Ondo state, Ajube said  that he was not on the run or being invited by any security operatives.

The former militant also described as untrue reports that the people of his community have fled because of military invasion.

Media reports had it that security operatives stormed his Bolowoh Community in search of the former MEND commander over the pipeline vandalisation in Delta State.

Ajube, according to the report, was said to have escaped arrest from the security operatives before their arrival in his community.

The ex-militant, aka ‘shoot at sight’  told newsmen that he was the one that sent invitation to the newly deployed Commanding Officer of the 19 battalion.

He pointed out that they met and discussed only to be informed that one of his lieutenant and the operational Bradama international Skill Works Limited Ebi Molos had been arrested.

Ajube wondered why his aide was being held by security operative who stormed his    company in Agadagba.

Why he urged security operatives not to instigate crisis in the riverine area of the state because of what happened in Delta state, he expressed concern why he was been linked with what happened in Delta state.

Ajube added that he had done nothing to warrant the purported search by the security operatives.

The ex-militant noted that since he personally embraced peace after the arm struggle, he has made it his point of duty to preach and maintain peace across the riverine areas of the state.
