30 March 2012, Sweetcrude, ABEOKUTA— An Octogenarian identified as Amos Olojo, was arrested alongside five others by Ogun State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for alleged pipeline vandalism.

Public Relations Officer of NSCDC in the state, Kareem Olanrewaju, who disclosed this, said the suspects were arrested during a raid on their hideout at Abule Ojo, near Fidiwo town, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

He, however, said the command was on the trail of four other suspects who escaped during the raid.

He said: “They were suspected to be responsible for pipeline vandalism in the area in recent times.
Consequently, the corps launched an investigation to trap other suspects now at large and ascertain the level of culpability of the six suspects arrested.”

The suspects arrested alongside the Octogenarian, according to Kareem, were Rabiu Yinusa, 40; Soyinka Mathew, 25; Sakiru Kareem, 25; Soyoye Kola and Adejumobi Yemi.

He said some of the items recovered from the suspects included a locally made gun, one machete, and a drum containing 250 litres of petroleum product as well as 61 kegs of 25 litres filled with fuel.
