Port Harcourt — The new Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Friday Eboka, has declared that armed robbery, kidnapping, sea piracy, cultism and all kinds of criminality will no longer be tolerated, warning criminal elements to leave the state.

To this end, the new CP has charged all Area Commanders, Head of Units and Divisional Police Officers to monitor their men to ensure none is involved in corruption as his office will have no room for it.

Given the strategic importance of the state to the nation’s economy, Eboka also assured of his duty to ensure the safety of waterways for sea travellers in the state .

”As you all know, Rivers State is strategic to the economic fortunes of the Country. It therefore follows that so much needs to be done to curtail and minimize the security challenges arising there from.

“Given the peculiar social and economic environment and the volume of human traffic, including foreign nationals in the state.

”I am here in the State to tackle crime and criminality headlong, in line with the vision and mission of the Inspector General of Police, in accordance with international best practices, rule of law and respect for fundamental human rights. ”

CP Eboka said his strategy which his policing shall rest on include: Intelligence led policing, community partnership, zero tolerance for corruption, respect for human rights, visibility policing and credible leadership.

The new CP also promised to synergize with other sister security agencies to battle crime in the state and vowed that the state will not be habitable for criminals as he will spare no efforts in fishing them out.
“A total war is thus declared against violent crimes like sea piracy, armed robbery, cultism and kidnapping etc.

“To ensure a successful execution, we shall synergize with other sister security agencies to battle with perpetrators of these heinous crimes. Rivers State shall not be habitable for criminals, as I will spare no efforts in smoking them out of their hideouts.”
