13 September 2018, Sweetcrude, Port Harcourt — The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHED, has explained the current loss of power supply and blackout being experienced in parts of Port Harcourt metropolis and its environs in the last two days.

Manager, Corporate Communications of PHED, Mr. John Onyi, said the power outage is due to a faulty 60MVA power transformer belonging to Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, at Trans Amadi Industrial Area.

Onyi announced that the affected areas are Woji, the entire Trans Amadi, Rumuodomaya axis and some parts of Aba Road.

He, however, disclosed that the company was authoritatively informed that the technical crew from the TCN has been mobilized to the site to ensure that the faulty equipment is fixed soon.

The Port Harcourt Disco further appealed for the patience and understanding of customers in the affected areas, while the job lasts.
