18 February 2019, Sweetcrude, Port Harcourt — The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHED, has explained the current power outage being experienced in parts of Port Harcourt metropolis and its environs.

The Disco said the forced outage which has affected customers in Woji axis of Port Harcourt including Nvigwe, Alcon, Elitor, New Layout, Ogbatai, Woji Estate, Woji village, Elijiji, etc is as a result of faulty15MVA equipment.

Manager, Corporate Communications of PHED, Mr. John Onyi, said the faulty15MVA affected the Buchholz chambers and the relays of the power transformer located within the area.

Onyi, however, said the technical crew of PHED has already set an action in motion with a view to finding the spare parts of the power transformer and as soon as that is done power supply would be restored.

He, therefore, solicited for the patience and understanding of our customers affected within the area.
