12 October 2017, Sweetcrude, Port Harcourt – The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHEDC, has announced that parts of Port Harcourt metropolis and it’s environs will experience a three day power beginning from tomorrow, Thursday, 12th October to Saturday 14th October 2017.
The Port Harcourt Disco said the outage is as a result of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, resolve to complete the stringing and fortification of Afam 132KV lines I and II, in other to improve service delivery to customers.
Manager, Corporate Communications of PHEDC, Mr. John Onyi, said the area affected will include the Rivers State Government House, Diobu, Township amongst other places.
Onyi who explained that normalcy will be returned to the network as soon as the job is completed, appealed for patience and understanding from customers while the job lasts.
According to him, “Valued customers of PHEDC, are by this announcement informed of the intention of the Transmission Company of Nigeria to embark on a three day planned outage, starting from Thursday 12th – Saturday 14th October 2017 from 9.00am till 7..00m on each day.
“This is to allow the TCN technical crew complete the stringing and fortification of Afam 132KV lines I and II with a view to improving service delivery to customers.
“In the light of the above, a cross section of Port Harcourt city mainly Elelenwo, Township area, Government House, Forces Avenue, Diobu among others will be affected by the outage.”
In a related development, the management of Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, has also announced that the power failure experienced within Woji, Obio/Akpor LGA and its environs is as a result of a faulty 15MVA, power transformer at Woji 33/11KV Injection substation.
A statement by the Spokesperson of PHEDC, Mr. John Onyi, said technical crew has already been mobilised to the site and is working assiduously to ensure that the faulty equipment is fixed soonest.
Onyi in the statement urged its customers to exercise patience as effort is geared towards finding solution that will lead to restoration of power supply to the affected areas.
