Port Harcourt — Tony Iwelu, an official of the Department of State Security Services and Chief Detail to the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has been electrocuted to death in Kaduna, the capital of Kaduna State.

Sources close to the deceased disclosed that Iwelu passed away around 10:30am on Monday, as a result of electric shock, inside his room at Stone Edge Hotel in Kaduna.

“The electric shock came from the shower rose in the hotel,” an aide to the Minister said anonymously.

Until his death, Iwelu was a personnel of the DSS and Chief Detail to the Minister. He was also the Chief Security Officer, CSO, to Amaechi during his time as governor of Rivers State.

Meanwhile, the Transportation Minister is yet to make comments on the development.
