The meeting is designed as an executive dialogue where senior-level international investors, financiers and technology providers can meet with representatives of East African governments, utilities and regulators.

The meeting, which will be held under Chatham House rules, will hold confidential discussions on the challenges and opportunities faced regarding entering the Ethiopian power market.

Endorsed for the second year running by the Ethiopian Ministry of Water and Energy, the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation and the Ethiopian Electricity Agency, the ‘Powering Africa: Ethiopia’ program will focus on polices and regulatory frameworks for developing a private power market, regional interconnections and accelerating renewable energy development with a focus on hydropower, wind, solar and biofuels.
