19 July 2013, News Wires – Kuwait Energy has hit hydrocarbons while drilling the El Salmiya-2 well on the Abu Sennan concession in Egypt’s Western Desert.
Well partner Beach Energy said hyrdocarbon shows had been encountered in the Abu Roash “C” member, Abu Roash “E” member, Bahariya formation and Kharita formation.
It added that Kuwait Energy was now setting up to test the well over the coming week.
The El Salmiya-2 well was drilled to appraise reservoirs in the Abu Roash “C” and “E” members, which flowed at combined gross rates of 2900 barrels of oil per day and 16 million cubic feet of gas per day in the El Salmiya-1 discovery well last year.
Kuwait Energy operates the Abu Sennan concession with a 50% interest, Beach holds 22% and Dover Investment holds the remaining 28% equity.
