26 April 2018, Sweetcrude, Lagos — Nigeria’s Upper legislative chamber, has asked the country’s oil firm, Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation, NNPC to immediately refund the total sum of N216 billion oil subsidies to the Federal Government.

The Senate also asked NNPC to stop further payment of oil subsidies, describing the payment as illegal and lacking transparency.

The order was given on Wednesday sequel adoption of its committee recommendations that investigated the subsidy payment done without the lawmakers’ approval.
