    Restructuring: Aero managing director resigns

    09 December 2012, Sweetcrude, Lagos – The Managing Director of Aero Contractors Airlines Captain Akin George has resigned.

    Mr. George resignation is coming on the heels of the restructuring exercise of the airline carried out by the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) with the support of the board of the Airline.

    Captain. George has served Aero for 24 years in various capacities.
    Meanwhile the Board has appointed the Deputy Managing Director of the airline,  Mr. Obaro Ibru as the Acting Managing Director.

    Chairman of the board of Aero Contractors airlines, Mr. Funsho Kupolokun pointed out the on-going restructuring of the airline  would make the airline slimmer and stronger with the aim of making it more competitive with its counterparts.

    According to him, “The board accepts the resignation of Captain George and appreciate the services he has rendered to this airline over the last two decades. We wish him the best in his future endeavour”.

    Mr. Kupolokun further noted that, Mr. Obaro Ibru who until now was the Deputy Managing Director has been appointed by the board as the Acting Managing Director stressing that he is coming with extensive experience in banking and aviation industry ranging from Aviation Project Management, Consumer Banking Product Development, Strategy,ICC Internal Control and Compliance, and Business Process Engineering among others.
